Man Attempts to Sing ‘God Bless the USA’ 911 Times for September 11
Every year on September 11, Americans pause to reflect on the tragic 2001 terrorist attacks that changed the country forever. In 2012, as the U.S. reflects on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attack in New York City, one man will be resting his voice after belting out the words to 'God Bless the USA' 911 times. That's right: A Utah resident has attempted to sing Lee Greenwood's hit song 911 times in 48 hours.
According to UPI.com, Alan Foote began singing 'God Bless the USA' at the September 11th Tribute & Patriotic Marathon at Staheli Farms in Washington City, Utah on Sunday morning. Foote began his tribute at 6:30AM on September 9 and rounded out his 911th rendition song at 6:40AM Tuesday morning, Sept. 11.
"There have been things in my life that I haven't followed through on ... but this is really an important thing to follow through on, for me," Foote said of his venture.
Although that sounds like a pretty big feat, the man has been clear that the event is a low-key opportunity for Americans to display their patriotism. However, it will be hard for anyone to be more patriotic than Foote, who is sure to have his voice after singing 'God Bless the USA' more than 900 times!
