Luke Bryan hit the stage during the 2019 American Idol finale on Sunday night (May 19) with former contestant Laci Kaye Booth to deliver a cover of the Police classic "Every Breath You Take."

Bryan took the stage by himself initially to perform his current single, "Knockin' Boots," giving a fun performance while striding the stage wearing jeans and a leather jacket. He paused his performance to announce Booth, and then they changed the tone dramatically with a moody segue into the Police classic.

The song reached No. 1 when the Police released it as the lead single from their Synchronicity album in 1983, and it's the group's signature song, as well as the song most widely associated with Sting. Bryan and Booth altered the arrangement, first singing over a moody synthesizer, then adding a jaunty acoustic guitar to accompany the song's signature staccato guitar riff.
