Luke Bryan has been on the road with Jason Aldean as of late, and recently, the pair hit Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, where Bryan took a creative turn by sitting down at a piano to cover Brit pop songstress Adele‘s ‘Someone Like You.’ Take a look at the video below and you’ll notice that the audience was pretty keen on the ‘Country Girl (Shake It for Me)’ singer’s choice of an unconventional cover song.

Sitting down at the piano with his hat on backward, Bryan was careful to throw out a disclaimer before launching into the tune: “Here’s the deal,” he said. “It’s kinda funny that in the home of the world’s greatest musicians that I would play piano because I suck at the piano, all right? So no judging all right?” Before waiting for the response, Bryan launched into the beginning of the song, encouraging the audience to join in.

Though he left much of the song to be sung by the audience, the country singer did choose a song outside his genre from a female vocalist who’s nothing like him. That was pretty impressive in itself — but what’s more, he seemed to have a blast hamming it up and playing to the irony of the moment.

After the “warm up” performance was over, Bryan hollered out to the audience to give themselves a hand, and then he added, “Y’all YouTube that. It’s pretty funny.” Apparently, someone took him up on his request.

Bryan is gearing up for the release of his ‘Spring Break’ EP, which drops March 6, while continuing to tour as a part of Jason Aldean’s My Kinda Party Tour. The road show is headed to Houston March 16.
