Eighties rocker Bret Michaels of Poison has revealed that he enjoyed Thanksgiving at Loretta Lynn‘s Hurricane Mills, Tenn. ranch, and afterward the two collaborated on a few songs. Rolling Stone reports that Michaels and Lynn are going to re-record his band’s 1988 hit ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’ for Michaels’ upcoming solo album.

“For me, growing up in a family that my father loved country music and ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter,’ this is gonna be a really awesome time,” Michaels says. Remaking the hit was actually Lynn’s idea.

“There are two songs we wrote together,” the rocker adds. “One of them is going to appear — she’s a doing a new album with T-Bone Burnett — we’re gonna go down and do one on that, and then we’re gonna do one [on] an album that’s called ‘Me, My Guitar And I.’ It’s a record that will come out either later in the year or some time next year.”

This isn’t Michaels’ first flirtation with country music. In 2005 he was a judge on ‘Nashville Star,’ and he released a country rock album called ‘Freedom of Sound’ that included a duet with Jessica Andrews. He recreated ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’ for that album as well, singing it alongside Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down, Chris Cagle and Mark Wills.

In 2010, he released a country rock ballad with Miley Cyrus called ‘Nothing to Lose.’ Cyrus included a duet of ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’ with Michaels on her ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ album.

In January, Lynn canceled two shows to recover from an unknown ailment. According to her website, her next scheduled show is on Feb. 16 in Fayetteville, Ark.
