Texas has always had some movies or TV shows filmed here, but it's never been on the level of states like California, Georgia, North Carolina, or Florida.

Box Office hits include Friday the 13th, There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, Friday Night Lights, Selena, Dazed and Confused, Lonesome Dove, Urban Cowboy, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Giant. One company in Texas is trying to change that.

Hill Country Studios is on 200 beautiful acres in San Marcos, only 30 minutes from downtown Austin. It will provide over 800,000 SQF studio facilities built to meet the highest industry standards. It will have 12 purpose-built sound stages, four workshops, and over 200K SQF of spacious production office space designed to provide a comfortable and efficient work environment for film production.

It's a significant investment in Texas filmmaking that will bring thousands of dollars to San Marcos, Austin, and San Antonio. It can also provide job training to Texans who want to work in the film industry but don't want to move to California.

All the filming there can open acting doors for Texas actors, and all those films need extras, right? Hill Country Studios will be the largest and most modern studio in Texas, opening the door for Texans to the film industry.

Texas is also home to Taylor Sheridan of Yellowstone fame. His upcoming Yellowstone spin-off, 6666, will be filmed at his 6666 Ranch in North Texas.
