From 10 Employees to 1,500 in Just a Few Years

VoltaGrid’s growth has been nothing short of explosive. Brad told me the company had about 10 employees back in 2020. Fast forward to today, and that number has jumped to around 1,500 people.

That kind of growth doesn’t happen by accident. It’s happening because companies across the country are demanding more reliable energy solutions, especially as data centers and AI technology continue to expand.

New Natural Gas Power Plants Planned for Abilene

One of the biggest announcements during our conversation was VoltaGrid’s plan to build natural gas power plants in Abilene, Texas.

These facilities will operate “behind the meter,” meaning they directly power large data centers instead of pulling energy from the traditional grid. The goal is simple: deliver 24/7 reliable power for the massive computing demands that AI technology requires.

Hundreds of High-Paying Jobs Coming to the Key City

Here’s the part that really caught my attention.

VoltaGrid expects to bring between 500 and 1,000 full-time jobs to the area as these projects grow. These won’t just be temporary gigs either. Many of the roles are expected to be long-term, high-paying careers in energy, operations, and technical fields.

For Abilene, that means real economic momentum for years to come.
