When the holiday season comes around, most of us look forward to those classic Christmas songs that fill the air. However, not every Christmas tune is a good one. Some are so bad, they've become infamous.

A few years ago, Rolling Stone magazine released their list of the worst Christmas songs. This made me think of a few that make my ears hurt every time I hear them. Let's take a look at five Christmas songs that, to me, definitely make the naughty list.

LOOK: 5 CHRISTMAS SONGS SO BAD THEY MADE THE NAUGHTY LIST

First up is "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band Aid 20. This song was meant to be a charitable effort, but it's been criticized for getting a lot wrong about Africa, where it was supposed to help. The lyrics and the way it was remade 20 years after the original  didn't sit well with a lot of people.

Then there's "Funky Funky Christmas" by New Kids on the Block. Geez, this one is the worst. It tries to be a cool, rap-style Christmas song, but it ends up being more awkward than awesome. NKOTB tries to be so trendy that they miss the mark on this Christmas song.

"The Christmas Shoes" by New Song is another one on the naughty list. This song is meant to pull at your heartstrings, but it's so over-the-top that it ends up being more cheesy than anything. It's about a boy buying shoes for his sick mom, but the way it's told has made me rolling my eyes instead of reaching for a tissue.

Lady Gaga's "Christmas Tree" is famous for all the wrong reasons. It's full of suggestive and not-so-subtle hints. Plus, the music sounds like it was made in a rush. It's not at all like her usual hit songs and doesn't capture the spirit of Christmas.

"I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" by Gayla Peevey is notorious for its high-pitched, child-like singing. It's perhaps the worst on the list. I get it. It's trying to be cute. But it's one of those songs that can be annoying to many, sounding more like a kid throwing a tantrum rather than a festive song.

So there you have it, five Christmas songs that won't make my holiday playlist. I know that music tastes can be different for everyone, but these songs have been widely recognized for not quite capturing the holiday spirit. Just because a song is about Christmas doesn't mean it's going to be a good one.
