This Free Texas Museum in Cross Plains Is a Hidden Gem Packed With Classic Cars
Texas is full of roadside surprises, but this one might be the ultimate “how did I not know about this?” stop…especially if you’re a fan of classic cars and sports memorabilia. Tucked away in Cross Plains sits Woody’s Classic Cars & Baseball Museum, and it’s the kind of hidden gem you usually only hear about from a friend of a friend.
How Have I Missed This Texas Gem?
My wife and I have driven past it countless times, heading through the area to visit family, and never stopped. That was a massive mistake, because this place is pure Texas-sized awesome.

Inside a massive barn-style building, you’ll find rows of beautifully restored vintage vehicles, with a heavy emphasis on classic Fords. From early Model Ts to fire trucks to old-school hot rods, it’s a rolling history lesson on American horsepower.
I snapped a ton of pictures that quite honestly don't do the place justice, as you have to see it in person to really appreciate it.

Classic Cars, Texas Rangers Memorabilia, and Pure Americana Under One Roof
This isn’t just a car museum, it’s a full-blown tribute to Texas culture and American nostalgia. The place is packed with Texas Rangers memorabilia, along with nods to legendary New York Yankees greats. Jerseys, bats, photos, and displays make it a must-see for baseball fans.
Add in retro pop-culture pieces, drive-in theater vibes, and classic Americana touches, and the whole experience feels like stepping into a time capsule from the golden age of road trips.
Free Admission and a Gift Shop That Turns Your Purchase Into a Charity Donation
Here’s what really makes Woody’s stand out: it doesn’t cost a dime to get in.
At the end of your visit, you’ll pass through the gift shop. But instead of simply pocketing your money, the museum turns your purchase into a donation. For every $5 you spend, you receive a $5 ticket to place into the charity of your choice. Spend $20? You get $20 in donation tickets to distribute however you want.
That’s about as Texas as it gets; generous, community-minded, and just plain cool.
If you’ve been cruising Highway 36 and never stopped, fix that immediately. Woody’s is one of those rare places that proves the best attractions in Texas aren’t always in big cities; sometimes they’re these little gems quietly waiting in small towns, just off the road.
I recommend just stopping by, but if you want more information, you can check them out on their website and on Facebook.
