I’m not gonna lie, when I was a kid, a theme park trip felt like a full-on event. You loaded up the car, packed way too many snacks, argued about directions, and eventually ended up at places like Six Flags Over Texas, where it was equal parts screaming children, exhausted parents, and adults pretending they weren’t scared of roller coasters.

Now? Texas is about to get something completely different.

Universal Is Bringing Big Theme Park Energy To Texas

Universal Kids Resort is officially on the way to North Texas, and this thing looks like pure chaos in the best possible way.

The new park in Frisco is designed specifically for families with younger kids. We’re talking themed areas based on Shrek, SpongeBob, Jurassic World, Minions, Trolls, and more. There will also be a 300-room hotel attached to the resort because, apparently, Universal wants Texas parents to fully surrender their wallets for an entire weekend.

So far, there has been no official date for when Universal Kids Resort will open.

This Is Basically A Texas-Sized Family Road Trip Waiting To Happen

Here’s the wild part. Families won’t have to book a massive Florida vacation just to get a Universal-style experience anymore. Texans can basically gas up the SUV, survive I-20 traffic, and head to Frisco instead of Orlando.

That’s a game-changer.

And let’s be real here, adults are absolutely going to enjoy this too. You cannot convince me there won’t be grown men walking around with Minions popcorn buckets pretending they bought them “for the kids.”

Right, buddy!

Frisco Keeps Getting Wilder

At this point, Frisco feels like somebody is playing SimCity with unlimited money. Every time you turn around, they’re building another giant attraction, sports complex, or entertainment district.

Now they’re adding a Universal resort to the mix. Texas really said, “Why should Florida have all the fun?” Meanwhile, in Abilene, we can't even get more than two Italian food options...but we have plenty of potholes to take up residency in.
