I’ll just say it…Abilene, we’ve got a bit of an Italian situation here in Texas. And by situation, I mean I love Italian food way too much for the limited options we’ve got. Pasta? Bread? Alfredo sauce? Yeah…self-control goes out the window real quick at my house.

We used to have spots like Johnny Carino's and Spano’s, and man…those hit the spot. Spano’s tortellini alfredo? I’m still not over it. Not even a little.

What Italian Restaurants Abilene Actually Has

Let’s give credit where it’s due; Abilene does have some solid options.

  • Luigi's Little Italy – Easily the closest thing to authentic Italian in town. Family recipes, legit flavors, and yeah…you’re gonna leave full.
  • Olive Garden – Look, unlimited breadsticks will always have a place in my heart. No shame.
  • Joe's Pasta Pizza & Subs – Local, casual, and dependable when that pasta craving hits.
  • Dante's Pizza – New York-style pizza that definitely scratches the itch.

And hey, I’m not knocking any of these. I’ve eaten at all of them…probably more times than I should admit.

Where’s The Real Deal Italian In Abilene?

Here’s the thing: we’ve got Italian-style food. What we’re missing is that next-level, sit-down, “Nonna’s been cooking all day” kind of place.

You know the kind…homemade pasta, rich sauces, maybe a guy named Tony yelling in the kitchen (in a loving way, of course).

Abilene Deserves More Italian Flavor

We’ve got some solid spots, no doubt. But that true, authentic Italian experience? Still missing. We’re stacked when it comes to Mexican, American, and good ol’ homestyle cooking, but Italian cuisine is definitely where we’re coming up a little short.

So here’s me, officially putting it out into the universe: Abilene needs more Italian restaurants. Until then, I’ll just be somewhere in town…loading up on way too much bread and pasta like it’s a full-time job.
