When that cold West Texas wind whips through town, most of us grab a jacket and keep moving. But for some kids right here in Abilene, it’s not that simple, because they don’t have a coat.

That’s why every year, Townsquare Media and our partners join forces for the Coats for Kids Drive, making sure no child in the Big Country faces winter without warmth.

Why This Drive Matters

Through Abilene ISD’s Homeless Student Program in Texas, over 1200 students are identified each year who lack stable housing, and often, basic necessities like a warm coat.

For these kids, a jacket isn’t just protection from the cold; it’s dignity, comfort, and a reminder that their community cares. Your donation, whether it’s a gently used coat or a few dollars, directly helps keep them warm this winter.

When & Where to Donate

Between Monday, November 3rd, and Friday, December 4th, we’ll be collecting new or gently used coats in all sizes, from toddlers to teens. Simply drop off your generously donated coats at Ingram Cleaners, 1514 South Treadaway.

Every coat donated is professionally cleaned and prepared by Ingram Cleaners, ensuring each one is fresh, warm, and ready to keep a local kid cozy this winter.

Make a Monetary Donation

If you’d rather give cash, stop by the Townsquare Media studios at 3911 S. 1st Street (Mon–Fri, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.).

Checks can be made out to Townsquare Media, with “Coats for Kids” in the memo line. Every dollar goes directly toward buying new coats for local children in need.

The Goal — and the Heart Behind It

We’re aiming for 2,000 coats this year, and every one represents a child in Abilene who’ll walk into school this winter feeling safe, warm, and seen.

This drive isn’t about charity. It’s about community. It’s about proving, once again, that when West Texans see a need, we show up, and we show up big!

Special Thanks to Our Sponsors

Huge thanks to the local businesses making this drive possible:

Coats for Kids is about more than staying warm; it’s about showing up for one another. Every jacket donated, every dollar given, is a reminder that Abilene takes care of its own. Let’s make this winter a little brighter, a little warmer, and a whole lot kinder for the kids who need it most.
