Man, oh, man! Once again, the Keepers Car Club knocked it out of the park in Clyde, Texas!

Bulldog Park in “Clyde America” was absolutely packed with classic cars, hot rods, awesome people, and enough automotive eye candy to make any gearhead drool. And Mother Nature even cooperated, giving us beautiful sunny skies in Texas for a day of horsepower, nostalgia, and good times.

But this year's show was a little more special to me.

First off, let's talk about what makes this event so awesome. Beyond the incredible rides, the annual Keepers Car Club Car Show supports Clyde ISD's Backpack Food Program, along with several other charitable organizations throughout the Big Country.

Vendors, food, live entertainment, military vehicles, and even replicas of the iconic cars from American Graffiti filled the grounds. Seriously, everywhere you looked, there was something cool.

A Walk Through Automotive History With My Dad

Now, here's where things got personal.

My dad stopped by the show, and we spent some time walking around together, checking out the classics and taking a little trip down memory lane.

We came across a couple of military Humvees, including one representing the United States Marine Corps. My dad is a Marine Corps veteran, and when he saw that Humvee, his eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas morning. I'm telling you, that was one of the coolest moments of my entire day.

Why a 1967 Pontiac GTO Won My Favorite Car Award

As we continued walking around, something suddenly hit me. Holy crap! I still hadn't picked my favorite car for the award I was supposed to hand out! We'd seen several gorgeous Pontiac GTOs throughout the show, but there was one in particular that caught my dad's attention…A beautiful 1967 Pontiac GTO.

Now, here's why that car meant something. 1967 was the year my dad graduated from high school. Just one year later, in 1968, he headed off to Vietnam, where he served through 1971.

So there we were, standing in front of a car from a pretty significant year in his life. And right then, my decision was made. That '67 GTO was getting my Favorite Car Award.

Thank You, Keepers Car Club, for Another Incredible Show

I can't thank Boyd and the entire Keepers Car Club crew enough for inviting us out and putting together another fantastic event. Great cars, great people, beautiful weather, and a community coming together to help others. That's what makes events like this so special in West Texas.

And getting to share a little piece of that day with my dad? Well, that's a memory I'll cherish long after the engines have cooled and the cars have gone home.
