I was about 15 when Beetlejuice came out, and that movie was right up my alley: weird, funny, a little creepy, and completely unlike anything else.

Now that striped suit is headed to downtown Abilene. The Broadway musical Beetlejuice hits the Abilene Auditorium on November 11, and tickets are on sale now.

What to Expect From Beetlejuice in Abilene

If you remember the 1988 Tim Burton movie, you know things are going to get weird. The musical follows Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager who encounters a recently deceased couple and one very loud demon with questionable manners and excellent taste in stripes.

The stage version turns that supernatural chaos into big songs, wild visuals, and dark comedy. Somehow, it also works in a story about family and making the most of life. Leave it to Beetlejuice to get sentimental while causing problems for everybody.

I dig that a Broadway tour is coming through the Big Country, especially one that takes me straight back to being a teenager watching Michael Keaton raise hell on screen. You don’t have to be a theater regular to recognize that name, or to have “Day-O” stuck in your head before you reach the parking lot. You’re welcome.

How to Get Beetlejuice Tickets

One night in Abilene. You know what to say, but maybe stop at twice.
