Parade of Lights and Tree Lighting: What’s Happening at Abilene’s Downtown Christmas 2025
If you’re looking for a one-night Texas holiday hoedown with small-town charm and a whole lot of sparkle, then saddle up, because the Downtown Christmas celebration in Abilene is going full send on Tuesday, December 2.
The official kickoff: the City Hall Christmas Tree Lighting at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Parade of Lights at 6:30 p.m. downtown.

Holiday Performances & Tree Lighting
Your night starts early at 5:30 p.m. with downtown musical performances. Think holiday vibes echoing through the streets while everyone’s clutching hot cocoa like it’s emotional support fuel.
Then at 6:00 p.m., the star of the show, the giant Christmas tree at City Hall, will light up the night. It’s big, it’s bright, and it makes everyone feel a little bit like a Hallmark movie extra. Zero shame.
Parade of Lights
Once the tree’s glowing, the Parade of Lights takes over around 6:30. Floats, dancers, lights, Santa, the whole sparkly shebang. The route rolls up Pine, cuts across North 6th, and comes back down Walnut before wrapping up around North 1st.
Pro tip: Portable restrooms and EMS/first aid spots are marked clearly on the map. My bladder told me to tell you that.
Parking? Lots of it, some free all day, some free after 5 p.m., and PayMobile options if you’re fancy like that.
Food Trucks You Should Absolutely Hit
Three main food truck zones this year:
Location 1 — North 3rd & Walnut
- Crazy Corn
- Black Ice
- Urban Street Food
Location 2 — North 4th & Pine
- Nobilitea
- Sherrod's Craft BBQ
Location 3 — North 5th & Walnut

Basically, come hungry. Leave jolly.
A Big-City Christmas With Small-Town Heart
Downtown will be glowing, shops open late, families bundled up, and enough Christmas spirit to thaw even the grumpiest Grinch.
See you downtown, Abilene. Let’s light it up.
