Get Free Tax Assistance From the AARP at the Abilene Public Library
We're fortunate in Abilene to have some IRS trained volunteers from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) to help prepare your taxes for you. Every year from February 1st through April 15th the AARP folks are here to help. All you need is your 2013 tax materials such as W-2 forms, Social Security cards and last year’s return. The AARP volunteers assist on a first-come, first served basis. Here are more details.

This service is available to anyone with simple filing needs, but if your filing amended, itemized, long form or anything that requires more than the volunteers are trained to offer, Janis says "seek help from a tax preparation service here in Abilene. What we're offering is tax assistance to the elderly and people who cannot afford to do their own taxes."
