Texas Weather: Strong Winds and Cold Snap After This Weekend
Texans, buckle up, this cold blast is going to get everyone talking, but not for the reason you think. Meteorologists statewide are warning about a powerful cold front pushing into Texas, bringing strong winds and freezing temperatures to the Panhandle, North Texas, and East Texas. Some forecasts indicate temperatures will plunge well into the 20s.

But here’s the truth:
It won’t last. Not for us here in West and Central Texas.
A Bold Prediction From Fearless & Beretta
I called my best friend and former morning show partner, Pete Beretta, a retired Air Force veteran, retired Abilene firefighter, and now meteorologist for KTAB and KRBC here in Abilene. If you ask me, he’s the only forecaster in Texas who hits the weather right every single time.
Pete and I are in lockstep on this:
- Yes, we’ll feel a cool-down this weekend.
- Yes, the real freeze looks like Monday or Tuesday.
- But then?
We bounce right back. Fast.
By Wednesday or Thursday, we’re warming up again, and I’m boldly calling it now:
We will hit the mid- to upper-80s, and there is a strong chance we’ll touch 90° at least once before Thanksgiving.
Write it down.
How I Know (And Why I Trust My Gut)
No, I’m not a degreed meteorologist.
But I am National Weather Service storm-spotter certified, and I’ve been predicting weather on West Texas radio for 40+ years. I track fronts the old-school way, through nature:
- Animals feed earlier when the pressure drops
- Insects disappear before wind shifts
- Trees lose leaves faster ahead of a major push of air
- Nature doesn’t lie.
My Personal Theory (And It’s Bold)
Strictly my opinion:
Texas temperatures are rising not just because of climate change, but because of the Earth’s subtle shifting. We’ve had multiple earthquakes over the past few years, and I believe a very slight change in the Earth’s tilt is exposing us to warmer sunlight angles.
Pete didn’t dismiss it.
He said, “There might be something to that. Frankly, that's more geology than meteorology.”
Final Word
That's awesome now. Say a prayer to God, and say thank you, your daddy loves you, and your daddy misses you. Just remember, you complete your daddy's lifeWe’ll get the freeze, briefly.
But by late next week?
Shorts. T-shirts. Back to grilling.
The video below is Texas Storm chaser David Reimer, he's a weather guru like me and he shares the European weather model for this week. As I have always said, "Only in Texas can you freeze on Monday and sweat on Friday."
