Dads And Daughters Ready For A Fun Luau Dance Night
Every year, right after Thanksgiving, many of us West Texas dads start planning one of the sweetest traditions in the Big Country, the Daddy-Daughter Dance. I’ve attended several myself (and even deejayed one), and I can honestly say it’s one of those memory-making moments you never forget. Some of my closest friends, including two local physicians, were right there with their daughters, smiling ear to ear.

Now it’s back for 2026, and Abilene Parks & Recreation is going all-in with a tropical luau theme. Christmas may not be here yet, but trust me… these tickets sell out fast.
A Night of Hawaiian Fun in West Texas
The 28th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance takes place Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 6–9 PM at the Taylor County Coliseum. This year’s luau theme will turn the coliseum into a West Texas island getaway, complete with bright decorations, refreshments, and plenty of room to dance.
The event is open to girls ages 3 and up, along with their dads or a male role model. Whether you show up in Hawaiian shirts or dress to the nines, the night is all about fun, connection, and making a memory she’ll talk about for years.
Why This Dance Means So Much
As a dad who’s been there, danced there, and even spun the tunes there, I can honestly say this event is pure gold. Watching your daughter dress up, take your hand, and walk into the dance together it’s one of those moments that slows the world down for a little while. It’s not just an event. It’s a tradition that grows stronger in Abilene every year. Check out the video below.
