After the success of 'Alice in Wonderland' (over $1 billion - yes, with a B - worldwide), Disney has been hot to reboot their Disney princess movies. With a 'Sleepy Beauty' reboot on the way (in the form of Angelina Jolie's 'Maleficent'), the next live-action princess film on the way was scheduled to be 'Cinderella' but that was before director Mark Romanek abruptly left the project. What Prince Charming could step in and rescue the project before it turned into a pumpkin? Enter: Kenneth Branagh.

The 'Thor' director is in talks to replace Romanek on Disney's live-action 'Cinderella' which would star Cate Blanchett as the Wicked Stepmother. Despite the photo above of Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella, no actress has yet been cast in the title role.

Branagh, who recently wrapped filming on Paramount's 'Jack Ryan' reboot, would keep 'Cinderella' on track for its fall start date, avoiding a delay that could've put the film in serious jeopardy. He certainly brings some of his Shakespearean chops to the project and has experience with big-budget tentpoles (something that, as much as we love and respect him, Romanek doesn't have).

Disney is hoping to release the new 'Cinderella' in 2014, exactly 100 years after the first 'Cinderella' hit theaters in 1914.

So with a 'Cinderella' film on the way, who do you think should star? Jennifer Lawrence anyone?
