While his collection of heartbreak ballads made him a breakout country star, it's easy to forget that Brett Young has a little bit of swagger! During an exclusive show as part of the 2019 Hilton Honors concert series at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville on Thursday (Sept. 12), Young allowed that part of his personality to come alive — and to shine.

As an intimate crowd of Hilton Honors members filled the event hall overlooking a gorgeous view of the Nashville skyline, Young set the tone for the evening with an upbeat opener, his hit "Catch." It didn't take long for him to get up close and personal with the crowd, keeping the energy light with "Used to Missin' You" and "1, 2, 3 Mississippi."

Much of the setlist was tailored for the couples in the crowd — Young sent a romantic vibe through the room as patrons raised glasses of red and white wine in the air for "Reason to Stay."

"Yeah, you can slow dance," he said, encouraging the crowd that was already reveling in the moment as he began "In Case You Didn't Know."

In between more heartfelt moments, Young showed his swagger card by integrating a montage into "Reason to Stay" that opened with haunting a cappella of Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven" before covering Post Malone's "Better Now" and an ethereal effect with "Champagne Supernova" by Oasis. He continued in this vein with a smooth rendition of Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" to introduce his band.

After throwing in a cover of his friend Gavin DeGraw's hit "Not Over You" and sharing a story he "wanted to tell really badly" with a performance of the Hallmark-esque title track to his sophomore album Ticket to L.A., Young left the crowd chanting for "Mercy" mere seconds after he let the stage. He delivered with a convincing encore of the heart-wrenching song, elevating its emotion with intense drums and guitars while subtly adding in the line "I found peace in your violence" from Marshmello and Khalid's "Silence" and snippets of "Mercy's" sister heartbreak ballad "Don't Wanna Write This Song." But he left on a high note with "Here Tonight," giving his all to the satisfied crowd.

The show was one of several events to come out of Young's partnership with Hilton that dates back to the release of his debut single in 2016 and has rewarded him with lavish experiences from a promo trip to Aruba to going backstage at Nissan Stadium.

"There aren't a lot of brands that keep coming back with more opportunities," Young told Taste of Country backstage about a partnership he says is "made in heaven." "The fact that the relationship is so good that we continue to have opportunities together I think is unique."
