Billy Crystal or Eddie Murphy? Guess Who Public Prefers as Oscar Host — Survey of the Day

Last week Eddie Murphy quit as 2012 Academy Award host and was quickly replaced by Billy Crystal, and apparently it was the right choice.

According to a new survey from Poll Position, more people prefer Billy Crystal over Eddie Murphy when it comes to hosting the Oscars.

Asked which of the ’80s-era SNL alum they would prefer as host of the Oscar telecast, 37 percent of the 1,200 adult respondents answered Crystal, who has hosted the show eight previous times. Thirty percent of participants actually couldn’t care less, which is more than the 27 percent that favored Murphy. It’s that kind of apathy that leads to James Franco and Anne Hathaway.
