The reigning International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Entertainer of the Year, Balsam Range are beginning 2019 with the release of a brand-new album -- and they're giving The Boot's readers the chance to hear one of its tracks first. Press play below to listen to "Tumbleweed Town."

Balsam Range guitarist and vocalist Caleb Smith sings lead on "Tumbleweed Town," written by Milan Miller. "Milan has a way with a story that hooks you up quick," Smith tells The Boot.

"Tumbleweed Town" is sung "from the perspective of a drifter trying to make his way," according to Smith, who adds that the song wouldn't feel out of place in Glen Campbell's catalog. "Sometimes I've crossed the line ... The corners I've cut came with a cost / Now I'm, I'm out of town," he sings. "Now the dreams I didn't find are another casualty / In this tumbleweed town."

"Tumbleweed Town" is one of 11 new songs on Aeonic, coming on Jan. 4 via Mountain Home Music Company. It's the seventh studio album from the bluegrass band -- fiddler and vocalist Buddy Melton; mandolin player and vocalist Darren Nicholson; bassist, dobro player and vocalist Tim Surrett; Smith and banjo player Dr. Marc Pruett -- which formed in North Carolina in 2007. Balsam Range are 13-time IBMA Awards winners with numerous No. 1 songs on the bluegrass charts.
