Alan Jackson Performs at Launch of Campaign to Raise Funds for Country Hall’s Expansion
Alan Jackson was on hand Thursday morning in Nashville to close out a ceremony marking the public start of a $75 million capital campaign to finance a planned 200,000-square-foot expansion of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
Jackson sang ‘You’ve Been Lonesome, Too’ — a song he contributed to the multiact album ‘The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams,’ which is due Oct. 4 — as well as his 1993 hit ‘Chattahoochee.’
To date, the silent phase of the campaign, dubbed Working on a Building: Country Music Lives Here, has raised about $56.8 million.
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, which opened in 2001, is currently 140,000 square feet. The expansion is due to be finished in spring 2014, and it will include an educational center, an 800-seat theater and more exhibit and storage space.
