Yes! Another Coffee Shop Opening Up Here in Abilene, Texas
If you’ve been scrolling social media lately, you’ve probably seen the debate heating up across Abilene: Do we really need another coffee shop? Well, ready or not, another one is on the way.

A New Name Enters the Abilene Coffee Scene
A new drive-thru coffee shop is officially in the works as Ziggi’s Coffee prepares to build its first Abilene location.
According to state filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the new shop will be built at 701 South Judge Ely Boulevard. The project is expected to cost around $1.3 million, with construction potentially starting in June and wrapping up by October.
Ziggi’s has been expanding across the country, offering a menu that includes coffee drinks, energy infusions, sodas, and quick food items like breakfast sandwiches and baked goods. This will mark the brand’s first stop in Abilene and one of only a handful of locations currently operating in Texas.
Too Many Coffee Shops, Or Not Enough?
Here’s where things get interesting.
Some folks around the Big Country are asking: How many coffee spots does one city need? Others are saying this is exactly what growth looks like, new businesses, new jobs, and more options.
From my seat, it’s pretty simple. If you like those $8-$12 specialty drinks, you’ve got more choices coming. If you don’t, nobody’s forcing you to get in line.
But clearly, people have opinions, and they’re not holding back online.
The Health Side of Your Morning Cup
There’s also a growing conversation about coffee and health. Research supported by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute suggests moderate coffee drinking, especially in the morning, may be linked to lower risks of heart disease and even early death.
In fact, some studies found that people who drink coffee before noon may see greater benefits than those sipping it all day.
Bottom Line in Abilene, Texas
Love it or hate it, another coffee shop is coming, and it’s not likely to be the last.
The real question is:
Is Abilene over-caffeinated, or just getting started?
