Texas Tops Nation in Business & Abilene COC Joins the Celebration
Texas Sets a New Record, and Abilene’s Small Businesses Are at the Heart of It
Texas just secured the title of Best State for Business for an incredible 21st year in a row, according to Chief Executive magazine, and right here in Abilene, the Chamber of Commerce is making sure our small businesses get the spotlight they deserve during Small Business Week.

Governor Greg Abbott praised the achievement, crediting Texas’ business-friendly climate, diverse and skilled workforce, and unmatched quality of life. “Texas offers businesses the freedom to succeed, that’s why the nation’s CEOs have ranked Texas as the Best State for Business for more than two decades,” Abbott said.
With recent legislative moves like the creation of the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office, the Governor says the Lone Star State is more committed than ever to helping all businesses grow and thrive.

Meanwhile, Doug Peters, President and CEO of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, is making sure that spirit is alive and well right here at home. As Texas celebrates its national ranking, Doug and the Chamber team are preparing a full week of local events honoring Abilene’s entrepreneurs during Salute to Small Business Week, happening May 4th through the 10th.
Peters shared a heartfelt reminder of what small businesses mean to our town:
“These aren’t just places we shop, they are places where relationships are built, where trust is earned, and where our community spirit lives and breathes" said Doug Peters.
In partnership with Star Auto Group, First Financial Bank, and America’s Small Business Development Center at Texas Tech University, the Chamber will host events designed to celebrate, educate, and connect the backbone of our local economy to our small businesses.

As Texas keeps raising the bar nationally, Abilene’s small businesses keep raising the bar locally, proving that when our community stands together, anything is possible.
