Not content to let the mystery be, The Leftovers is finally answering one of the biggest questions about its third and final season. HBO and star Justin Theroux have announced the April premiere date with an ominous teaser, promising a very sudden departure for us all.

Where previously creator Damon Lindelof would only confirm an April premiere date for the Rapture-drama’s final episodes, Justin Theroux now rides to the rescue to confirm a more specific April 16. There’s no new footage in the teaser below, but that whole post-Rapture grace period might really be coming to an end, by the ominous message:

The end is near. And we know the date. 🚬 #theleftovers @hbo

Meanwhile, The Leftovers Season 3 will take the spring slot vacated by Game of Thrones, with Birdman and Alice: Through the Looking Glass star Lindsay Duncan joining the cast in an unspecified role. Near of the entire Season 2 cast has been confirmed to return for the final year, while the series has also released its additional photos from the final season.

The Leftovers Season 3 likely won’t drop a formal trailer just yet, but what do we make of the latest look?
