These Must See Clydesdale Ads Still Make Texans Cry and Smile
"The Clydesdales are coming, the Clydesdales are coming" who doesn't remember that old famous saying? The fact is that the majestic Budweiser Clydesdales or once again returning to Abilene. But do you remember some of their commercials? See the video below.
A Grand Arrival Fit for Texas Tradition
This year, the legendary, historic Budweiser Clydesdales are galloping back into Abilene, to help kick off one of the most beloved local events, the Western Heritage Classic. Sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, these iconic horses will appear in the big parade on May 8th and make a special visit to Dyess Air Force Base to honor those who serve and protect our country.
But for me, this story isn’t just about a rodeo or a marketing appearance. It’s about memories, emotions, and life lessons, brought to life by a team of horses that have become a symbol of perseverance, and American pride.
Growing Up With the Clydesdales
Like many Texans, I grew up watching the Budweiser Clydesdales on TV. I remember standing on the couch, cheering for Hank, the underdog horse who trained hard, got help from the Clydesdales' loyal pup, and eventually made the team. That commercial struck something deep inside me. I felt proud of him as if I knew him. And I’ve never stopped being a fan.

Before COVID, the Clydesdales visited Abilene. But it’s been years since we’ve seen them here. Their return feels special, like a long-lost friend coming home. And I’m more of a fan now than ever before. I can’t fully explain why, but every time I see that little puppy in the commercials, the one who gets lost in the city but finds his way back to the Clydesdales, I start to tear up. I silently weep. That story tugs at my soul, reminding me of sitting with my dad, brothers, and uncles, watching those heartwarming commercials together.

Commercials That Taught Me How to Lead
One of my favorite spots is about a donkey who dreams of becoming a Clydesdale. He trains, dreams big, and never gives up. When he finally gets accepted, the joy is contagious. That ad taught me more than most leadership books ever could. Be brave. Be determined. Believe in yourself, even when others don’t.
Another favorite? The zoo animals all lined up outside the barn, hoping for a chance to join the “team.” I believe these commercials taught me how to lead with compassion and how to be kind to others, especially animals. They showed that greatness isn't about muscle, it's about heart and soul.
The Frog Commercial, the Jingle, and the Super Bowl Magic
You can’t talk about Budweiser ads without mentioning the famous frogs, “Bud,” “Weis,” and “Errr.” Or the unforgettable jingle sung by a powerful, soulful voice that still echoes in my head. These commercials weren’t just ads; they were cultural moments, introduced to millions during the Super Bowl, cementing their place in American hearts.
Why This Means So Much to Me
This is more than a celebration of horses. It’s about life, leadership, and love. Watching those Clydesdales taught me how to be out in front and still be part of a team, "Team Abilene" And in many ways, ”Together, we’re learning, growing, and creating something that matters in the Key City.
Final Thoughts From the Heart
So, when you see the Budweiser Clydesdales roll into Abilene this week, I hope you don’t just see horses. I hope you feel something deeper like I do. These majestic animals represent everything good in America, in Texas, and in Abilene: strength, loyalty, unity, and heart. It's a feel and a vibe combined.
As I’ve said before, and I’ll say again:
“I believe these Budweiser Clydesdale horse television commercials are all about heart and soul, and how to be a better human.”
Welcome back, Clydesdales. We’ve missed you.
