Fans of Taylor Swift have known for quite some time that the country chanteuse-turned-pop singer has a thing for cats (her personal furry friends, pets Meredith and Olivia, are stars in their own right). But now Swift has taken her adorably crazy cat lady vibe just a bit further: She's signed on for a role in the film version of the famed Broadway musical, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats.

Deadline confirmed Swift's participation in the production Friday (July 20), which in its theater form is the fourth-longest running show on Broadway. There is no word yet on what role Swift will play in the movie — however, it is probably not the part that springs to mind for most. The show's striking vocal standout role, that of Grizabella, who sings the famous ballad "Memory," has reportedly gone to American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson.

Swift, who wraps her reputation tour Nov. 21, has a fairly limited film resume, with past minor appearances in The Giver and Valentine’s Day.

The original Webber production is based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, and premiered in 1981. The movie will be directed by Tom Hooper, who reportedly came close to casting Swift in his 2012 big-screen adaptation of Les Misérables.
