Maddie & Tae find themselves in unfamiliar territory on their new song "Tourist in This Town." Press play above to hear the new track, co-written by the duo with Barry Dean and Jimmy Robbins.

Driven by its guitar line, "Tourist in This Town" has Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye on a hunt for "a new coffee shop" and "another Friday night spot," their old haunts reminders of a broken relationship and "monuments to what I thought it meant." The song's melody is upbeat, and a little dreamy, belying the hurt and heartache.

"Now I'm a tourist in this town / So where do I go from here? / A tourist in this town / A broken heart for a souvenir," Maddie & Tae sing in harmony in the chorus. Later, they add, "You turned my home into a city on a map ..."

The release of "Tourist in This Town" is a sign of good things to come: Maddie & Tae fans are eagerly awaiting the duo's sophomore album, as it's been almost four years since the release of their debut disc, Start Here. Just as Dye and Marlow finished up writing the songs for a sophomore record in 2017, their label, Dot Records, shut down, leaving the country duo uncertain about when -- and if -- their new music would see the light of day.

Now, however, Maddie & Tae are signed to Universal Music Nashville, and "Tourist in This Town" is the third new track that the duo has shared in recent months: "Die From a Broken Heart" dropped in October, while their most recent single, "Friends Don't," came out in April of 2018. The pair's sophomore album will be a concept record about a relationship.

"It's through the eyes of a relationship, but it's kind of representative of what we went through the past two years, just the highest of highs and the lowest of lows," says Marlow of the album, "and then, how to make your trials and everything you go through make you stronger, and how you come back from that."

That the record is a concept album was "completely unintentional," adds Dye. "We've gone through a lot in the past couple years, personally and professionally, and we feel like this story ... is us."

In addition to prepping their album for release in 2019, are readying to hit the road with Carrie Underwood, on her 2019 Cry Pretty Tour 360. That trek is scheduled to begin in May.
