Kelly Clarkson Nods to Maren Morris in Billboard Music Awards Medley [Watch]
Just a few short minutes after her tearful tribute to the victims of the Santa Fe, Texas, school shooting, Billboard Music Awards host Kelly Clarkson bound on the stage for her opening monologue, which included a musical tribute to artists such as country music superstar Maren Morris.
"I love all of these artists," Clarkson said before tearing into a medley which kicked off with a cover of Morris’ hit "My Church." As Clarkson sang, Morris and husband Ryan Hurd could be seen in the audience throwing their heads back in delight over being picked to honor in such a cool way.

From there, Clarkson continued her medley by singing Sam Smith's "Too Good at Goodbyes," Kendrick Lamar's "Humble.", Imagine Dragon's "Thunder," Khalid's "Young, Dumb and Broke," Bruno Mars and Cardi B's "Finesse (Remix)," Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You," Shawn Mendes' "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" and Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do."
Not only did the Billboard Awards medley showcase Clarkson's insane vocals, but also just how much good music there has been out there in the past year. And yes, Clarkson admitted she was sweating by the time she was done! But it was just the beginning for her, who would prove to be a delightful host for the all-genre awards show, which honored country artists such as Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Chris Stapleton with early category wins.
Before the show even started Clarkson and Morris were making news as they took separate walks down the red carpet along with fellow country names Brett Young and Mason Ramsey.
