Texas Is Home To The Buggiest City In America. Who Is It?
Ooooh the creepy crawly syndrome. You know what it is. A fear of bugs and everything they bring. We see plenty of them in Texas thanks to our climate, and the spring and summer months will drive you absolutely crazy if you have an issue with bugs.
Well, I've got some even worse news for you. The issue we have with bugs is even greater than we thought it was.
According to a recent survey done by Terminix, Texas has prominently landed on the top 50 buggiest cities in the country. Not one, not two, but FIVE different cities cracked the top 50.
And yes, we garnered the number one spot of course.
The good news is this. We aren't the most bug infested state in the country. That belongs to Florida who landed six different cities on the list, and California tied Texas with five. However, none of that makes up for what I'm about to tell you.
At number 41 on the list lands Harlingen, TX. Just a small city in the Rio Grande Valley with a population just over 71,000 people. However, the fact that it landed so high on the list means that there are plenty of bugs for each person.
Checking in right behind it at number 40 is Corpus Christi. More known for it's beaches and water, it's also one of the most bug infested cities in America. Makes sense considering with water comes some humidity, and bugs love humidity.
San Antonio is next on our list cracking the top 30 at number 28. A big expansive city that just lends itself to housing a myriad of bugs, not to mention the River Walk being right there to provide the water for them.
Two cities to go, and if you're not a bug person, you probably won't want to move yourself here.
At number TWO on the list is Houston. The most populous city in Texas is nearly the most populous city for bugs in Texas as well. Funny how the two have a tendency to correlate.
Which leaves us Dallas to check in atop the list of buggiest cities in America. The second most populous city in Texas probably has more bugs than people in it, and that doesn't bode well if you have a fear of them. Maybe just keep your visit to a day trip if you're one of those people.
