Then the day came when I realized I had gained a bunch of weight. I couldn't remember the day before, and I was sick all the time. Enough was enough, and I was lucky enough to just... stop. And I did.

Now, I have a fancy cocktail now and again with a nice meal, but that's about it. For others, it's a more serious, biological addiction, and they have to stop completely. If you are a sober or sober-ish person now, let me say that I am so very proud of you.

Drinking is not inherently evil or bad, but excessive drinking is not good- from adverse health effects to bad life decisions (and weight gain and premature aging), excessive drinking is a problem that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

If you are looking to avoid a bunch of drunks (at least per capita), you might want to avoid Loving County. According to Intoxistates.com, Loving is the "drunkiest" with 24.99% of residents that are excessive drinkers. Soo nearly a quarter of the people who live there.

Good question. I didn't know, either. It is in west Texas on the southern border of New Mexico. It is home to Mentone, an unicomportated county, and some ghost towns. Interestingly, there is a called Loving County by Charlie Robinson.

Looking for lots of sober people? Look no further than Presidio County. With only 12.41% excessive drinkers, it is also in west Texas, but on the border with Mexico. Presidio County is home to the culturally rich town of Marfa.

Marfa is a home to important art and artists and is where amazing films like There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men were filmed. So don't let anyone tell you all artsy types have drinking problems.
