And if you guessed McDonald's, you are... not correct. McDonald's came in at #9 on USA Today's list of fastest fast food. And there are nearly 1,200 McDonalds in the Lone Star State.

The fastest fast food honor goes to Taco Bell, and based on my own experience that is absolutely true. The average wait time at Taco Bell is 278.84 seconds, or about 4 and a half minutes.

What Makes Taco Bell So Fast?

According to QSR Magazine, an industry publication that gets fairly technical on these matters, there are actually a few reasons Taco Bell is so fast.  Some reasons include:

Back of House technology- efficient layouts and BOH software known as "Touch Kitchen Display System" which helps team members triage more complicated orders.

E-commerce sales- basically, people ordering off the app

"Additional access points"- again, the app, but paired with the drive-thru, dedicated to-go/ mobile app parking spots, and in-house order kiosks (which I happen to really like because I can be quite precise with my order)

Digitally Savvy Customers- yay, we helped!

However, out of the ten restaurants USA Today looked at, the slowest actually had the highest customer satisfaction, so speed isn't everything for all consumers.

The winner of the slowest/ best experience was Chic-fil-a at a 97% approval rating, but a 436.09/ over seven-minute wait time.

However, Taco Bell still had an approval rating of 95%, so you can have fast and good at the same time. And the best soda on the planet- I'm looking at you Diet Bahama Blast.

Most Remaining Fuddruckers Are In Texas, Here's Where To Find Them

Fuddruckers began in San Antonio in 1979. At its height in the late 90s, there were 150 Fuddruckers locations. Now only 54 remain, with 6 of those in the dubious state of "temporarily" closed.
