On a recent episode of The Afternoon Buzz, I sat down with two Texas business owners from Abilene who are directly affected by the proposed THC ban in Texas. Brittany and Brennon from House of Healing joined me to discuss Senate Bill 3 and how it’s not just bad policy, but it's personal.

What Exactly Is SB 3?

SB 3 is the bill that would ban all hemp-derived THC products, including Delta-8 and Delta-9. These are legal alternatives that many Texans, including veterans, first responders, and the elderly, rely on for real relief. It’s already passed the House and Senate, and now it’s waiting on Governor Abbott’s signature.

It's Not About Getting High - It's About Healing

Brittany and Brennon from House of Healing in Abilene made it clear that this isn’t about recreational use. Their customers aren’t just curious stoners, they’re veterans with PTSD, first responders coping with trauma, and elderly folks who are tired of living in pain or being overmedicated.

These THC-derived products are often non-intoxicating and taken in microdoses. They help with sleep, pain, anxiety, and emotional regulation. For many, they’re the difference between making it through the day or spiraling into something darker.

House of Healing in Abilene isn’t a big chain. It’s a local wellness shop built on trust and community. Brittany and Brennon know their customers by name. They’ve helped people find relief where traditional meds failed.

If SB 3 becomes law, they’ll be forced to pull some of their most effective and in-demand products, and that’s not just a business hit, it’s a gut punch to the people who rely on them.
