Abilene Wylie’s Case Keenum Lit Up the Eagles on Monday Night, and I Loved Every Minute of It
I’m a Cowboys fan, so watching the Eagles get beat by 20 points was already a pretty good Monday night. Then I remembered who was doing the beating: Abilene Wylie’s own Case Keenum. That made it a whole lot sweeter.
Case Keenum Gets the Call for Chicago
With starter Caleb Williams sidelined, Chicago handed Keenum the start. It was his first NFL appearance since 2023, and he sure didn’t look like a guy who’d spent nearly three years waiting for another shot.

Case completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns without throwing an interception. Then he added a one-yard touchdown run as the Bears rolled past Philadelphia 27–7. Three touchdowns on Monday Night Football? Not bad for the guy from Wylie.
From Wylie to Houston and Across the NFL
After Wylie, Keenum played college ball at the University of Houston, where he piled up 19,217 passing yards and 155 passing touchdowns. Then came an NFL career that has taken him through the Houston Texans, St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Washington, Cleveland Browns, and Buffalo Bills before he landed in Chicago.
That’s eight teams, a whole lot of playbooks, and probably enough moving boxes to build a fort.

Folks around Abilene have had plenty of reasons to follow Case over the years. Seeing him get another shot on national TV and make the most of it? That’s a fun one.
Plus, I’ll gladly enjoy an Eagles loss any week. Watching an Abilene guy hand it to them? Hell, that’s worth staying up for.
