With Gun Sales Down the Texas Gun Show Is Bringing More Vendors to Town
With Texas making the top 5 of Most Guns Purchased in America in 2021, now in 2022 gun purchases in America are dropping drastically. That's not the case in Texas as purchases may have dropped a little in the first half of this year in comparison to last year's record-setting sales.
In Texas, gun sales fell, but at a much slower pace compared to the national average. There were a total of 855,905 FBI firearm background checks in Texas in the first half of this year. That compared to 1,062,416 in the first six months of 2021 it's only a 19.4% reduction in comparison to the other 49 states.

While the New York Times reported that gun sales may have spiked due to the pandemic and the Presidential election and may be the reason for the decline. The National Rifle Association (NRA) says "yes sales may be down from last year however they are still up from pre-pandemic figures"
But with Washington threatening to ban more firearms, it seems to increase sales in Texas as well as across the United States. That stated, the Texas Gun and Knife Shows promoter Janis Hill says "we are sold out with every table spoken for and more new vendors than ever before."
The show's promoter Janis Gill says this show is sold out with vendors. Many of which have never been to Abilene before
Janis says "we are seeing more concealed carry purses and clothing vendors, firearm vendors, and ammo dealers coming to our shows and have booked through the end of the year." I know that at the last Texas Gun & Knife Show I was at, I saw tons of women shopping and looking at both guns and purses.
Shooting Illustrated magazine is saying that women are still leading in gun purchases. So, if you are looking for that one-of-a-kind firearm, that special purse, belt, or ammo, you must attend this show.
The show is Saturday and Sunday, August 13th and 14th at the Abilene Convention Center. The cost to get in is only $7 for persons 13 and up while children 12 and under get in free.
Word of advice here if you bring your firearm into the gun show remember to have it unloaded and check them in at the front desk of the gun show.
