A 22-year-old concertgoer is intensive care after being hit by lightning early Friday morning (July 20) at the Country Thunder music festival in Twin Lakes, Wis. The young woman had no ID on her at the time of the incident but has since been identified as Brittney N. Prehn of Woodstock, Ill.

According to reports, Prehn was in the Country Thunder campgrounds and on her cellphone when, during a storm, lightning struck her in the ear and ran through her body, exiting at her foot. Chicago's ABC 7 learned from a hospital employee that "significant damage" to her cellphone caused facial injuries.

"Her shoe exploded off, her other shoe was all black and burnt, and she had blood coming from her ears," a fellow festivalgoer tells Milwaukee's WTMJ Channel 4. Adds another camper, "It looked like she was dead."

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department responded around 12:36AM. ABC 7 reports that Prehn was in serious condition and transported to the Northern Illinois Medical Center. She was transferred to the Loyola University Medical Center and, according to a relative, is in the ICU. The sheriff's department says they have not found any evidence that Prehn was acting in an unsafe manner when she was struck.

The 2018 Country Thunder Wisconsin festival began on Thursday (July 19). Its headliners are Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Toby Keith and Dierks Bentley.
