POLL: Who Should Win Best Bluegrass Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards?

The O’Connor Band, featuring bluegrass fiddle legend Mark O’Connor at its helm, took home the Best Bluegrass Album Grammys trophy in 2017, for their album Coming Home. And with bluegrass music growing more en vogue lately, there are some fierce contenders for the 2018 title.

Fiddlers Dream is Michael Cleveland's first solo album in a decade, and he brings his traditional bluegrass-style fiddle playing, as well as some pretty fancy mandolin work. But on Laws of Gravity, the Infamous Stringdusters return to their trademark style after innovating a bit on their previous record Ladies and Gentlemen; apparently they weren't wrong when they wrote a song titled “A Hard Life Makes a Good Song”.

At 86, Bobby Osborne certainly is an Original, as the title of his latest album suggests; the five-decade Grand Ole Opry member celebrated the 50th anniversary of his hit "Rocky Top" recently and is still playing live shows and cranking out bluegrass hits. But Punch Brothers member Noam Pikelny holds his own on this category; with his album Universal Favorite, he says in a tongue-in-cheek making-of video, he made a record of a banjo player covering a fiddle player covering a mandolin player.

All the Rage -- In Concert Volume 1 [Live], by Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, is a live album that captures Vincent and her band in their element. Vincent says that paring the album down to only 14 tracks was difficult, but the results got them in the running for a Grammy ... so, mission accomplished.
