‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’ Trailer: Vin Diesel Has a Particular Set of Extreme Skills

After sitting out xXx: State of the Union, Vin Diesel returns to the role of EXTREME sports enthusiast Xander Cage in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. The first trailer for the reasonably titled sequel has arrived online, offering a sneak peek at Diesel and his new team of EXTREME sports pals and all their EXTREME sports skills — like skiing in the forest in the middle of summer — that will come in handy when they take on an international conspiracy.

It’s been 14 years since xXx, which was followed in 2005 by the disappointing xXx: State of the Union, in which Ice Cube replaced Diesel — or at least he tried to, and you can’t really fault the guy for trying. In any case, Diesel is back for the new sequel, which finds Xander Cage living in self-imposed exile. But just when he thought he was out, etc., etc., cue a very convincing monologue from Samuel L. Jackson and we’re back in business.

Tasked with confronting a vast international conspiracy involving various government officials, Xander recruits a new team of EXTREME sports enthusiasts to help him save the world. Diesel is joined by Donnie Yen, Ruby Rose, Toni Collette, Nina Dobrev, Tony Jaa, Deepika Padukone and Rory McCann in the new sequel, which hits theaters on January 20, 2017.
