Final ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Trailer: It’s Gonna Take All These Mutants to End This War

With the release of the final ’X-Men: Days of Future Past‘ trailer, the battle to be named 2014′s biggest superhero movie continues. ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,‘ which is breaking all the April box office, already got the jump, but can the latest X-Men film turn the tides?

To stand out from ‘Cap’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ ‘Days of Future Past’ brings in as many mutants as it can, with a cast that includes Hugh Jackman in his signature role as Wolverine, James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart as young and older Professor X, Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen as young and older Magneto, and many more, including Halle Berry‘s Storm and Jennifer Lawrence‘s Mystique (to say nothing of Ellen Page‘s Kitty Pride). The film is chock full of mutants, though it may get a boost from ‘Game of Thrones‘ star Peter Dinklage‘s appearance as Bolivar Trask, who created the robotic Sentinels set to kill all mutants.

The film follows Wolverine as he is enduring an apocalyptic world and tasked by the current Professor X and Magneto to go back in time and team up with their past selves to stop the Sentinel problem from getting out of hand. The film tackles one of the most famous runs (as originally envisioned by Chris Claremont and John Byrne) in the X-Men comic books’ history , and could be one of the biggest films of the year, despite the potentially overcrowding cast and Quicksilver’s new look.

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ opens on May 23.
