X-Men: Apocalypse is set to begin filming this summer, but director Bryan Singer is already hard at work getting ready for the start of production. He may be busy, but not so busy that he can't snap a quick photo of some X-Men: Apocalypse concept art to get the internet all excited. And confused? The mysterious shot has sparked a lot of debate, so let's try to figure out exactly what Singer is trying to show us.

First off, the image in question:

Despite it's blurriness, we'd guess that the character you see is Wolverine. First, because it sorta has the Wolverine posture, and second, because it's an X-Men movie and they'll cram Wolverine into every scene humanly possible.

While the color scheme seems to indicate something Sentinel-based, this looks more like a ship. Perhaps, The Ship?

In the comics, The Ship is a — ahem — ship that was created by The Celestials many thousands of years ago to monitor human progress. It was discovered and guarded by an immortal named Saul who was working to discover its mysteries. En Sabah Nur sought out Saul mostly as part of his plan to eradicate all other immortals. Nur slaughtered Saul and his crew, entered the craft and emerged as...you guessed it, Apocalypse. Apocalypse would later use The Ship as a — ahem — ship and mobile headquarters for himself and his Four Horseman.

This may not be what we're looking at (it certainly looks nothing like the comic version), but considering it's a giant purple ship in an X-Men movie about Apocalypse, it's a pretty safe bet.

Singer has said that he'll be posting more from the X-Men: Apocalypse pre-production and production phases, so you might want to keep an eye on his Instagram page. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse.

X-Men: Apocalypse opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
