I love finding new hobbies and keeping updated on my existing hobbies. While visiting Michael's arts and crafts store this weekend, I signed up for the Wilton cake decorating courses. I can't wait to get started! My mom signed up for the same class and also a crafting class. There's so much to do and learn, here are a few classes you can find at Michael's.

    Cake Decorating

I've dabbled with cake decorating since high school but have never formally been taught anything. I can't make roses and I don't have a clue how to make fondant. So I'm going to learn. I want to be able to make cute cookies, cupcakes and cakes and impress my friends; possibly even make some extra cash on the side. The classes are 50% off now through June 9th, as is your starter kit, so it's around $35 for a 4 week course. The classes are 2 hours each cover (1) the basics,(2) flower & cake design, (3) gum paste & fondant and (4) advanced gum paste flowers. My friends, family and co-workers are going to love me for doing this!!

    Cropping/Crafting Classes

There are many classes on different subjects that are offered. From painting, jewelry making, scrapbooking, and more. My mom likes the scrapbooking and cropping classes. She's learned to make creative scrapbook pages, greeting cards and booklets. Some of the classes are as little as $5. There are also classes for kids, especially around holidays like mother's day and father's day. These classes are good because you learn little tips and tricks you might not have thought of and also pick up creative ideas for great gifts. All you have to do is check the website for upcoming classes or stop by and get signed up.

    Birthday Craft Party

If you have creative kids then this would be a perfect place to have a party. They can bring friends and create crafts. You bring refreshments, goody bags and decorations and they do the rest. Provided are the room, invitations, thank you cards and goody bag tags, kids project, crafting assistance and set-up/clean-up. How easy and fun would this be for kids? I know when I was a kid my friends and I would have loved this kind of party.
