Nintendo President Satoru Iwata promised the long load times on the Wii U would be rectified, and on Wednesday he revealed how the company would fix the problem.

There will be two major system updates for the Wii U that will address the lengthy load times for games and applications on the console. The update is so large, that it needed to be spread out. The first update will arrive in the spring, and will also pave the way for the Wii U Virtual Console. The second update will come later in the summer, though Iwata didn't share precise dates for either update.

Hopefully the second update won't take too much longer than the first to arrive, but the news that Nintendo is going to fix the lingering issue is good to hear.
