When is Cruise Night and What are the Details?
Cruise Night is a major fund raising event for Abilene’s ‘Safety City‘, which is operated by the Abilene Police Department, Abilene Fire Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety . Safety City is designed to teach young children about traffic and pedestrian safety laws. Classes are set up through area schools in Abilene and surrounding towns. This year, Cruise Night will be held Saturday, October 13th. This marks the 30th year we have held Cruise Night.
What is Cruise Night: Each year, we invite car clubs from all over Texas to participate in a weekend of good ol’ fashioned cruisin’ fun for the whole family! During the 2-hour cruise, KEAN 105.1, Mix 92.5, and True Oldies 100.7 take you back in time by playing a mix of country oldies and original 50’s and 60’s music.
When is Cruise Night: This year, Cruise Night will be held on Saturday, October 13th.
Post-Cruise Activities: Afterwards, everyone is invited to join us for live music, awards presentations, and a dance .
Live Music/Dance: Each year we make sure you enjoy the evening with some of the best live music Abilene has to offer so you can dance the night away under the stars.
Awards: We give out awards for best Early Model, Late Model, Truck, Motorcycle, and Best in Show.
We also give out the people’s choice award. We sell VIP parking to benefit safety city and those VIP’s are entered into the People’s Choice award. We then sell votes at $1.00 per vote to pick the winner for the People’s Choice award. The VIP members are the only ones that vote for the other 5 awards.
Other Activities: We also do a raffle and give away door prizes that are donated from our sponsors and other local businesses.
All in all, it’s a full night of activities that benefits Safety City of Abilene. Hey, it’s all about the kids.
