West Texas wildfires continue to burn-up everything in it's path. Many of the volunteer fire departments have run out of money or are about to run out of the funds necessary to continue operating during the out of control wildfires.

The fire departments' ladies auxiliary or other members in the communities are arranging all types of fund raisers to help off-set the expenses of the voluntary fire departments like: bake sales, local artist concerts, raffles, dances or just passing the collection plate at the many local churches.

In short, one of the major expenses is the fuel for the fire trucks, which most trucks take at least 100 gallons of diesel. Then there's the breakdowns. These trucks need brakes, tires, water-pumps not to mention any break downs in the actual fire-fighting equipment like the pumps that push the water.

A couple of those fund raising charity events are taking place this weekend. One is in Rosco Firehouse and in Sweetwater at the Walmart where donations are being accepted to replenish the Roscoe Voluntary Fire-Department supplies and cash fund.

Another is in Buffalo Gap in the Community Center Saturday (right across from Deutschlander freshwater catfish co.), this one benefits the Buffalo Gap VFD, Lawn VFD, and the Tuscola VFD. Jarrod Medulla will be performing live while a bake sale, raffle and silent auction will be taking place.

A $10 donation at the door and there will be NO cooler charge.
