Wednesday, April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day to help bring attention to this neural development disorder. Whether you or someone you love has been affected by autism, everyone is encouraged to wear blue on 'Light Up Blue Day'.

Globally, World Autism Awareness Day will see iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, schools, universities, bridges, retail stores and thousands of homes will light blue beginning on April 2nd.

Locally, you're being asked to encourage everyone you know to wear as much blue as you can. Also, share some knowledge about the disorder with friends, family and coworkers. You can get statistics and information from AutismSpeaks.org, or share some of the staggering facts about autism listed below. You can also make plans to attend the Walk For Autism at the Abilene Zoo on April 26th (more details on the event are coming soon).
