Multi-billionaire Richard Branson is a thrill seeker and he has plenty of money to back his adventures. He's built planes to explore the air and now wants to head underwater; way underwater, 7 miles deep to be exact with his latest vision. The Virgin Oceanic Sub.

We've been conquering space for years but heading to the depths of the ocean has only been accomplished by a handful of brave adventurers. Branson plans on being one of those. His company Virgin Oceanic is developing a submarine that will be able to plunge 7 miles deep.

It's in development now and we may see this happen before the years end. This will probably be a limitaed mission for the inaugural sub but they hope to learn and develop more subs that will be able to take man to depths that have never before been explored in the name of science and research. They plan to make 5 dives in 5 oceans.

The two main adversities of deep sea exploration are pressure and freezing temperatures. Branson is working with Graham Hawkes, a world class submarine designer.

The video is an animated version showing the depths that have been explored and what is left to be explored hopefully by the Virgin Oceanic sub. The deepest unexplored point of earth is in the Pacific Ocean called the Mariana Trench. It reaches 11,034 m deep.

I love the ocean and finding new species that might be living at those depths is intriguing, scary and exciting all at the same time. I hope they are able to do this and teach us new things we never thought imaginable.
