Twitter Users Think ‘Double Dare’ Host Marc Summers Died, Not Donna Summer

If you read the news yesterday, you’ll know that disco diva Donna Summer sadly passed away at the age of 63 after a battle of cancer. And, like many folks these days, you probably tweeted your condolences. However, as is often the case these days, many Twitter users were a bit confused over which celebrity is actually in the news.
While we’ve yet to see the usual torrent of “WHO IZ DONNA SUMMER???” tweets, a great many Twitter users have confused the late Donna Summer with ‘Double Dare’ host and Food Network personality Marc Summers. This has led to a flood of jokes about how Summers perished from some sort of unfortunate slime-related accident.
Marc Summers died? I bet he drowned in that giant Double Dare nose.

Yes, @celebrityhottub, perishing under a giant Groucho Marx nose that slowly dispenses slime would be a pretty sad way to go. Particularly since Summers, who famously suffered from OCD, was no doubt terrified of the constant messes around him on the hit Nickelodeon game show.

For the record, this is Donna Summer:

And this is Marc Summers:

Thankfully, Marc Summers is alive and well, appearing on the Food Network shows ‘Best Thing I Ever Ate’ and ‘Restaurant: Impossible.’ He even recently turned up on an episode of Comedy Central’s ‘Workaholics.’

Gonna go make a giant foam nose for Marc Summers’ Double Dare revival while I drink beer with my BFFer. No big.
