Burn joins ‘Turn,’ or so we’ve learned. We’ve previously told you all about AMC’s upcoming Revolutionary War drama ‘Turn,’ certainly one of the pilots to keep your eyes on as the acclaimed network looks expand its brand with new reality series and potential dramatic replacements for the likes of ‘Breaking Bad‘ and ‘Mad Men.’ After a few casting the other day, it seems ‘Turn’ has struck again casting fan-favorite ‘Torchwood‘ star Burn Gorman, but will ‘Turn’ live up to its namesake with viewer’s heads?

After yesterday casting Australian stars Daniel Henshall and Meegan Warner, AMC’s upcoming Revolutionary War drama ‘Turn’ has further added to its ranks with ‘Pacific Rim‘ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ star Burn Gorman. Gorman was well known for portraying ‘Torchwood’ medic Owen Harper, a fan-favorite love interest to lead character Jack Harkness (‘Arrow‘s John Barrowman), before Gorman’s exit from the series rocked the show’s fanbase.

Based on Alexander Rose book ‘Washington’s Spies,’ and written by show-runner Craig Silverstein (‘Nikita’) and executive produced by ‘Bones’ Barry Josephson, ‘Turn’s 1778 narrative follows New York farmer Abe Woodhull as he “bands together with a group of childhood friends to form The Culper Ring, an unlikely group of spies who turn the tide in America’s fight for independence.”

Gorman will take the role of British Major Hewlett, assigned to the Colonies and billeted at the home of Magistrate Richard Woodhull. Casting reports describe the character as a chivalrous romantic at heart, yet holding firm to the law. Hewlett finds himself perturbed by the lawless activities of Abe Woodhull and seeks to root out the anarchy spreading within the Colonies.

What say you? Do you think ‘Turn’ will be the next powerful drama on AMC, now that Gorman has joined the cast?
