Toby Keith Breaks San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Attendance Record, Will Be Named Honorary Texan

For the past 63 years, the attendance record at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has been intact. Until now, that is. There has been no larger attendance for the event since it began in 1950, but Toby Keith managed to smash the record with this year's appearance.

Next up for Keith will be the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where he will take the stage on February 25th.

Do you need more proof that Texans love Toby? Here you go:  March 3rd Keith will be presented with an official certificate from the Office of the Governor declaring him an honorary Texan. Keith, a native of Oklahoma, will be given this honor as part of the Texas Heritage Songwriters' Hall of Fame Weekend. Past Honorary Texans include Bob Hope and Bob Dylan, so Keith is in good company with this new "Honorary Texan" status.

He will be performing at the event in honor of songwriter Roger Miller, a man Keith has admired for quite some time. He once said,

"Roger Miller was so intelligent that many of the greats would follow him around just for inspiration, just to hear him talk. He said some of the most famous quotes ever. If you want to hear cleverness, you want to hear wit, and you want to hear charm. you want to hear a ‘Class A' songwriter, it’s Roger Miller."
