Here’s something for you salaried employees to think about: If you’re working today, one could argue that you are doing so for free.

Perhaps that is why Oaklandish, an apparel company based in Oakland, is closed for leap day. Not only that, but on their sign announcing their decision, they call into question February 29th’s very existence.

But there is another way to look at the whole working on February 29th thing. Since everybody knows leap day comes every four years, wouldn’t that be taken into account when you get a job and are given a salary?

Which means the absolute best day to get a job is on a March 1st after a leap day. Then if you work exactly four years and quit, boom, you’ve actually gained yourself an extra paid holiday. You can thank us later.
